The South Lake Tahoe
EconoLodge is a great value for those seeking to minimize hotel
costs and maximize outdoor fun at beautiful Lake Tahoe. This
very basic motel was renovated in 1997 and is operated by the
EconoLodge chain. You can expect a clean room with few
amenities about 1 mile from the South Lake Tahoe casino strip.
The bathroom was particularly clean.
The motel's front desk staff
will check you in and assign a room. The service doesn't go
much beyond those two basics. There are no charges to the room
allowed after check-in, such as phone charges. This is great
-- in that local telephone calls are free -- and you can use your
calling card easily.

The room does include a color television, soap
& shampoo, and heat. The motel's most notable absence is air
conditioning. This is not usually an issue with Tahoe's cool
evenings and the motel's providing of an electric fan for the
windows. The color television does not include a remote
control, but does include a radio. There is no alarm clock for
the room.
In general - for a great value -- we paid only
$35/night during the extreme summer high season during a golf
tournament -- the EconoLodge is a screaming deal for your money.
Rates range from $35 - $80 per night typically. Why not spend
money on great restaurants, boat cruises, golf, or casino gaming--
rather than on a hotel room?
